Why Columnist has no editor

Columnist does not have an editor who reads every column before publication and decides whether it deserves to appear. This is intentional: after one-time author approval, external authors publish their own work. A text can therefore appear the same day without an editorial queue, but that speed gives the author more responsibility.

What replaces preselection

Before publication, the system checks eight conditions. These are not literary editing or fact-checking; they enforce the network's basic rules.

Topic-to-section fit is checked separately. A mismatch produces a warning, not a hard rejection; the author may still publish.

What the automatic checks do not do

They do not rewrite a weak headline, shorten a long paragraph, verify every number or argue with your judgment. If an author relies on questionable statistics, the system does not become a research editor. A technically valid column can still be dull, unclear or wrong.

This distinction matters: automated rule enforcement is not an editorial guarantee of quality.

Freedom and responsibility come together

You do not wait a month for an email reply and you do not receive edits that change your voice. But no one is required to stop an error before it goes live. Before publication, make three separate checks of your own: facts, legal risk and language.

Keep the source for a disputed claim. Confirm rights to every photograph. Check local restrictions when giving professional information. Compare direct quotations with the recording or original document.

What happens after publication

A published column can be reopened in the same editor, changed and saved. Length, language and address checks apply to the revision just as they did to the first version.

The author can also remove the article in one click. The public page closes, the public address stops working, and the record remains in the author's dashboard. A publication can also remove a column, particularly for illegal material or advertising disguised as a column, and the author is notified.

Why this does not mean “anything goes”

Direct author publication does not mean an absence of rules. Advertising is prohibited, duplicate text is blocked, one text cannot be multiplied across publications, and both cover and section are mandatory. The network owner also approves the author once before the first publication.

The model removes the subjective “we do not like your style” from the prepublication chain without removing the publication's rules or the author's responsibility.

Author checklist instead of an editor

• headline accurately promises the content;
• main thesis is visible in the opening paragraphs;
• numbers and quotations are checked;
• opinion is clearly separated from fact;
• third-party photographs have a legal basis;
• the text remains useful even if the reader buys nothing from the author;
• there are no external addresses;
• publication and section fit the topic.

What the author must do personally

No editor does not mean no editing. It moves editorial work to the author. Read the text four separate times. First for facts: names, figures, dates and quotations. Second for structure: does the article have one thesis and does every section support it? Third for language: repetition, ambiguity and awkward wording. Finally, check risks: third-party images, personal data, accusations and information requiring local legal assessment.

Separating these passes is useful. When someone tries to catch typos, verify numbers and judge the argument at the same time, obvious problems quickly become invisible.

Mini-check before the publish button

• I can state the main thesis in one sentence;
• every number and name has been checked;
• cover and photographs have clear rights;
• the text contains no promotional call;
• the language matches the selected publication;
• I am prepared to take public responsibility for each claim.

If you are unsure about a formulation, leave the article as a draft and return later. Fast publication means no editorial queue; it does not mean you must publish immediately after typing the final period.
